ENL Corporate Services is looking for an In-House Lawyer and Data Privacy Specialist to:

provide legal assistance and support for corporate governance and business development activities to the ENL group of companies
assist the Group Head of Governance and Legal Affairs by contributing actively to the successful implementation of ENL’s legal strategy
oversee the ENL group’s data protection strategy and implementation, fostering a data privacy culture within the group and embedding data governance in all business processes

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Advice

Assist the Group Head of Governance and Legal Affairs as regards to legal and corporate affairs matters of the Group
Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, including services agreements, leases, management agreements, confidentiality agreements, consulting agreements etc
Assist in mergers and acquisitions and corporate restructuring to ensure legal effectiveness of strategies
Provide legal assistance and support for corporate governance and business development activities
Assist in dispute and litigation matters as needed and liaise with external counsels on all court related matters to ensure, inter alia, instructions, witnesses and statements are procured on time

Corporate affairs, policies and processes

Assist in the development of standards for the provision of legal and compliance services to improve quality and reduce costs, including the development of form contracts, guidelines, legal documents, policies and governing documents
Provide education on legal and compliance matters to governance, management and other groups as directed by Group Head of Governance and Legal Affairs

Data Strategy & Governance

Act as Data Protection Officer for ENL according to section 22(2)(e) of the Data Protection Act 2017 (DPA)
Act as an advisor and expert on all matters related to data protection within ENL group of companies (ENL Limited and all its current or future subsidiaries and associated companies) (“ENL”) and as a contact for data protection related issues for those outside of the organisation (e.g., Data Protection Authorities and Data Subjects)
Advise on and implement a data privacy governance framework, chair the Privacy Committee, the Incident Response Team, supervise the data protection representatives/champions in each ENL companies and/or participate in such committees as appropriate to ensure effective data privacy governance within ENL

People Management

To manage the data representatives (or any officer in charge of data protection) team including motivating, mentoring and developing them
To plan, coordinate and delegate work within the team; set priorities, monitor progress, agree on work plans, standards and end results; delegate tasks to make the best use of functional expertise within the team
To ensure effective and active communication between the data protection department and all other businesses of ENL

Profile, Qualifications and Experience:

Master’s degree in law, governance, risk, compliance, a degree in data science or cybersecurity would be beneficial
Being qualified as law practitioner is an advantage
At least 5 years of experience in a similar or related role in a reputable law firm, advisory firm or group of companies
Leadership skills to drive data privacy compliance within ENL, delegating tasks as well as guiding, instructing and overseeing the data protection representatives/champions in ENL Companies
Interpersonal and communication skills to be able to communicate, negotiate, resolve conflicts and build fruitful relationships with various external and internal stakeholders and across various cultures and jurisdictions
