Welcome to the Energy Access Talent Initiative

The Energy Access Talent Initiative is a multi-year youth employment program that will hire 800 youth for clean energy companies across the African continent.

The program is run by Shortlist, funded with UK aid from the UK government via the Transforming Energy Access programme.

What is Clean Energy?

Clean energy is energy that comes from renewable sources and helps us reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. Clean energy companies care about preserving the environment and making sure that everyone has access to clean energy solutions.

These clean energy solutions can include solar home systems for communities who live in off-grid areas, clean cookstoves for families who don’t want to burn kerosene inside their homes, and solar-powered irrigation systems and other tools for farmers to increase their incomes. If you’re interested in these types of jobs, clean energy companies are looking to hire you!

About You

Shortlist is hiring young individuals across Africa to join clean energy companies. You are a good fit for the program if you are:

  • A young person at an early stage in your career
  • Interested in being hired at a clean energy company
  • Passionate about making a difference in your community

About the Employers

Employers at clean energy companies are eager to hire young individuals like you. These employers are:

  • Fast-growing companies in the clean energy sector
  • Committed to achieving gender equity
  • Passionate about expanding energy access

Efficiency for Access Design Challenge Internship Program

The Efficiency for Access Design Challenge Internship Program is a unique opportunity for students who participated in the Challenge to continue developing their skills and gain practical experience in the clean energy sector. The program is a collaboration between Shortlist and Energy Saving Trust, both running programs funded by UK aid from the UK government via the Transforming Energy Access program.

The program focuses on providing relevant internship opportunities for students to engage with the clean energy sector. It aims to place 10 interns in participating organisations working in the clean energy sector in Sub-Saharan Africa. The anticipated outcome of this program is to contribute to the development and growth of the clean energy sector in the region, ultimately supporting a more sustainable future.

If you are an employer interested in offering an internship to students who participated in the Efficiency for Access Design Challenge, please register here.
