Job Title: Career Development (CD) Officer

Department: Human Resource Department

Reports to:  Human Resource Manager

Job Purpose:   The Career Development (CD) Officer position is an entry job position at ACE. The Career Development Officer delivers and promotes career development, labour market, employment and training programs and services that maximize employment and education opportunities for staff.

Location(s): Gulu & Mbale (Uganda)

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Planning:                                                                                                                                                            

  • To assess the workforce's current skill levels and compare them with the skills required to meet future business objectives. He/ She will discuss training requirements with departmental heads and develop training programs to improve skills/ talents throughout the company. 
  • Plans and evaluates the resources needed to meet training and development goals in the company. Participate in hiring training consultants or use online training programs to supplement the face-to-face sessions delivered by in house facilitators


Administration:                                                                                                                                                           

  • Administer and deliver a broad range of career and employment development programs to staff; Manage training programs to ensure they are delivering results. Prepare schedules, allocate instructors to different courses and monitor costs to keep programs within budget. 
  • Prepare progress reports for the senior management team and maintain employees’ training records.


Training:

  • Support and deliver interactive and participatory trainings to teams
  • Participate in creating and rolling out tailored training programs under the ACE academy
  • Any other duties as assigned and directed by the Human Resource manager.


 Job Specifications:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in Human Resource Management, Education or Public Administration
  • Ability to work effectively with an ethnically diverse team.
  • Successful and proven negotiation, communication and organization skills. 
  • Should be an excellent team player, have excellent interpersonal skills, effective problem solver and be a pro-active learner. S/he will be capable of multi-tasking, rapid decision-making, have initiative, drive and a lot of energy, as well as high emotional intelligence and be an effective communicator.
  • An example to other employees by demonstrating a commitment to personal development.
  • Age: 21 years and above
  •  Recent graduate from a recognized University
