Who is the Design Engineer at Sistema.bio?

Reporting to the India Production Manager, you will be responsible for leading product and component development work. The main aim is to make user friendly product/components with increased efficiency, performance and cost effectiveness.

You’ll be in charge of:

• Studying our existing product/component designs and specifications and installations on Field.
• Collecting and analyzing data and feedback from Field, Sales and Production teams about existing products/components.
• Understanding demands from Customers, Sales and Technical Teams for new or improved products/components.
• Improving Designs, models and prototypes for new product features, improvements and innovations.
• Using computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-assisted engineering (CAE) software to create prototypes.
• Researching and testing the usability, safety, cost effectiveness and efficiency of the products/components.
• Developing testing parameters and product/component specifications.
• Collecting and analyzing data from tests on prototypes.
• Co-working with Sistema’s R&D team for field and performance studies.
• Coordinating day to day design and prototyping activities with technicians and vendors/ fabricators/ service providers.
• Supporting production team and vendors for production products/components.
• Planning and setting clear timelines and stages of product development.
• Writing regular progress reports and presenting them to project managers.

More about YOU:

• You have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E / B.Tech) with 5-7 years of proven experience of developing products with strong technical skills to build, test and scale innovations.
• Experience of working in a manufacturing/production set-up, coordinating with the production team/ vendors on product and component needs.
• Ability of understanding product requirements by interacting with our internal departments including Sales/ TechOps/ Production.
• Very comfortable to be in the field, interacting with rural customers and working closely with technical team members.
• Interdisciplinary bent of mind and acumen to integrate systems and approaches for serving the end user.
• Engineering acumen to systematically build technical systems, test and measure their performance, and revise designs based on data.
• Compelling communication & documentation skills to capture and present all stages of product development to stakeholders.
• Comfortable to build teams/ infrastructure/ capacity from scratch in a start-up environment.
