Power Financial Wellness, Inc - Business Development Intern

  • Internship length: Six (6) Months
  • Internship start date: ASAP

Summary

Power is a platform dedicated to providing holistic financial services to working people in Kenya and across Sub Saharan Africa. We enable individuals to live their lives with dignity, reduce financial related stress, and take control over their financial well-being. Power enables gig and salaried workers to access to earned wages and other financial services, as well as to contribute to savings via partner banks.

We are looking for motivated and talented individuals to join our team. The goal of this internship is to fill gaps in B2B and B2C sales and better prepare you for a future career in business development.

As an intern, you will be working closely with a supervisor and other colleagues who will provide you with real hands-on projects and daily tasks.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish a pipeline of potential partner companies and sales leads
  • Execute and prioritize closing deals.
  • Participate in the creation of sales pitches and targeted proposals for different companies depending on segment and company type.
  • Work in tandem with the marketing intern to ensure campaigns, social media, and acquisition funnels for Power for B2B and B2C are functional and working.
  • Participate and lead demos to partner company management.
  • Lead research into new segments and opportunities in Kenya and other East African markets and recommend new opportunities to the Power management team.
  • Help prepare the weekly sales report to management and participate in the sales update calls.
  • Help identify and select the best CRM tools to manage a pipeline of sales leads and maintain updated statuses on all opportunities.
  • Participate as a member of the Quality Assurance team to test the Power platform and recommend improvements.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to evaluate trends, brand awareness and competition in order to develop insights to keep company sales strategies up to date

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in management or related fields; Second Class Honours
  • Demonstrated experience in sales or business development in the financial services or technology space.
  • Knowledge of CRM tools
  • Hard-working, honest, and committed work ethic
  • Strong verbal and written English and Kiswahili
  • Comfort presenting to larger groups and audiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Slack, Gmail, WhatsApp
  • Ability to work independently and remotely, i.e. have a laptop and a quiet space
  • Organizational skills and detail orientated
  • Experience working with a team

Interns will work directly with the startup for 6 months, while learning more about the industry through Catalyst Fund’s deep expertise in inclusive tech and individual support from CCAF.
