About Raintree Foundation

As the philanthropic arm of Raintree Family Office, Raintree Foundation leverages catalytic philanthropy to strengthen the development ecosystem and amplify impact. The Foundation pools together a mix of resources from the ecosystem to develop successful and scalable programs and solutions to address India’s chronic social and environmental issues. It strives to co-create these programs along with leading non-profit organizations, technical experts, governments and the community as a whole.

The Foundation’s current thematic focus areas are Sustainable Landscape Management (SLM) and Workplace Mental Health. The SLM program has three thematic areas:

  • Community Development - Water Security, Sustainable Livelihoods and People’s Participation (institutional strengthening, capacity building of the community on citizenship awareness).
  • Environment - Ecological Conservation and Environment Education, Solid Waste Management and Energy.
  • Disability & Mental Health - Mental well- being of people, gender- just community and change in norms & perceptions around gender & masculinity, and sexual and reproductive health.

About the Role | Manager - Insights and Advisory

 The Manager, Insights and Advisory will be the organization's go-to person internally, to generate insights across the key pillars of our programs. A Manager will play an advisory role to the program managers with direct support on developing evidence-based program design, and developing knowledge on global best practices across our thematic focus areas.  

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate individual who is looking to use their skills to develop unique approaches to design and implement sustainable and scalable programs for rural development and community-led custodianship of the environment.

 Key Responsibilities

Insights

  • Developing a repository of knowledge and insights, across thematic focus areas, which will help the Program Team develop impactful and sustainable projects.
  • Providing interdisciplinary insights to the Program Team and Leadership for key strategic decisions.
  • Establishing data backed evidence on the proposed intervention models employed by Raintree Foundation.

 Research

  • Defining and aligning on the research agenda with the Head of Programs, COO and the Founders on a quarterly basis.
  • Conducting data-driven research and preparing roadmaps accordingly.
  • Analysing prevailing trends across the industry, regulatory bodies, and economy.
  • Undertaking quantitative and qualitative research across a range of topics pertaining to the interventions of Raintree programs.

 Knowledge Management

  • Collaborating with multiple teams within the Foundation to oversee the development of key learnings and evidence from our field interventions and ensure that these are systematically documented.
  • Driving the organization’s long-term goal of sharing our experience via white papers and case studies to disseminate content to the larger ecosystem.
  • Developing and showcasing thought-leadership material and outcomes from research and analysis. Expert synthesis of complex issues on relevant topics to benefit partners and the broader organization.


Does this sound like you?

Must Haves

  • A Masters (or an equivalent degree) from a reputed institution in Development Studies/ Environment/Sustainability/other related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in research and advisory.
  • Report writing and editing skills.
  • Collaborative skills.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience in understanding and creating strategies for environment conservation.
  • Fluency in Marathi .

Culture Fit

  • Someone who enjoys multi-tasking and exploring diverse projects.
  • Ability to work across multiple verticals.


This role would report to the Chief Operating Officer of the Foundation and would be based in Pune.

Raintree has a strong bias for action and feedback. While the role is based out of our offices in Pune, the individual will be required to be in the field from time to time, to interact with the field teams and the community at large.
