About the role

Burn is looking for an IT assistant who will be responsible for carrying out specific tasks – as defined by the IT Manager

 Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring PC performance.
  • Support development and implementation of new computer projects and new hardware installations.
  • Diagnosing and fixing problems or potential problems within the network and its hardware, software, and computer systems.
  • Assist in maintaining IT inventory for all IT assets within the organization, conducting regular preventive maintenance on all IT assets, and logging the same.
  • Preparing regular reports on IT support issues, maintenance logs, and any other relevant report that may be asked by the supervisor.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform PC, hardware, and peripheral equipment improvements, upgrades, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Configuring hardware and software, setting up peripherals such as printers or routers, repairing equipment, and providing daily support for computer network users.
  • Monitoring network, firewall, and computer systems to ensure 99.9% uptime, security & improved performance.
  • Provide user support in setting up & conducting end-user training for all relevant IT platforms.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or IT-related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years in a fast-paced IT support environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows Servers, and Linux.
  • Ability to maintain open communication & positive working relationship with staff
  • Willingness to learn on the job, prioritize tasks, and efficiently manage time.
  • Working technical knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems, and standards
  • Hands-on preventive maintenance on IT hardware and troubleshooting experience
  • Excellent technical knowledge of network, PC hardware & software, including Microsoft’s cloud platform.
  • Hands-on experience with network cabinet installation, cable patching & management, configuring of switches and routers
  • Working knowledge of DBMS systems such as Microsoft SQL, and MYSQL.
  • Working knowledge of cloud computing. AWS or Microsoft Azure
  • Programming experience. Preferred language Python.
  • Certification in CCNA, Office 365, will be an added advantage.
  • Availability to work occasional after-hours and weekends for IT-related projects.
