Job description

This position cuts across the entire organization. The Communication Associate is expected to support the achievement of FAWE’s strategic outcomes of documentation of good practices, communication data management, and institutional development. 


Goal:  

The Communication Associate (CA) will support the internal and external communication efforts of FAWE, including content creation, graphic design, social media marketing, video editing, and community management.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Content Creation & Copywriting: Create, edit, and proofread engaging content for FAWE’s internal and external communications, including newsletters, articles, reports, and social media posts.
  • Graphic Design: Design and produce high-quality visuals for publications, social media, and other communication materials using tools like Adobe Creative Suite. 
  • Video Editing: Create and edit videos to showcase FAWE’s work, including interviews, event highlights, and promotional content. 
  • Social Media Marketing: Assist in developing and implementing social media strategies to enhance FAWE’s online presence. Manage and update FAWE’s social media accounts. 
  • Community Management: Engage with FAWE’s online community, respond to inquiries, and foster a positive and active online presence. 
  • Translation & Interpretation: Translate internal documents such as emails, letters, speeches, and reports from English to French and vice versa. Coordinate with approved translators and interpreters to ensure high-quality service. 
  • Website Management: Manage FAWE’s website, ensuring it is vibrant, interactive, and regularly updated. 
  • Support Communication Strategies: Assist in the development and implementation of communication strategies and campaigns to promote FAWE’s initiatives. 
  • Collaborative Efforts: Assist with communication between FAWE RS and francophone national chapters and facilitate effective communication between FAWE RS staff and national chapters staff.
  • Support in drafting high-level speeches as well as, reviewing other speeches and/or translation of documents such as position papers and PowerPoint presentations. 
  • Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned by the communication and other departments.


Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience 

  • A bachelor’s degree in communication, Graphic Design, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in content creation, graphic design, video editing, and social media marketing.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong editing, proofreading, and presentation abilities. 
  • Bilingual French/English is an added advantage,  
  • Proficiency in desktop and web publishing methods and tools, including the MS Office Suite Adobe Creative Suite, and other related software. 
  • Familiarity with social media management tools and analytics. 
  • Familiarity with translation software and experience with translation and interpretation is a plus.
