Job Purpose:

To provide the solar installation and set-up of Spark Solar Home Systems in driving the adoption of clean energy solutions in Sierra Leone. You will be accountable for solar installations; from site assessment to system activation and ensuring compliance with all of Sierra Leone’s safety

regulations and standards. The installer is also responsible for maintaining solar panels and ensuring the wiring systems are safe and efficient. They will also advise clients on appropriate safety and maintenance procedures. This role involves working directly with the Area Sales Managers to deliver Smiling Through Light’s mission and goals.

Key tasks:

• Participate in site assessments to assess suitability for solar panel installation.

• Assist with designing and planning solar systems installations based on customer needs and roof specifications.

• Install racking, solar panels, electrical components and wiring, ensuring proper functionality and safety.

• Perform electrical wiring and grounding according to code requirements.

• Test and validate the installation and verify performance and efficiency.

• Conduct preventative maintenance on solar systems and troubleshoot any issues.

• Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all installation and maintenance activities.

• Work effectively with team members to ensure a smooth and efficient installation process.

• Adhere to all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Follow the Sierra Leone standards for Installations.

• Any other business as assigned by the Area Sales Manager.

Experience/Qualifications:

• Have a National Certification in Electrical Trade or equivalent qualification.

Key competencies:

• Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in solar panel installation or a related field.

• Have knowledge of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and their components.

• Capacity to use discretion when examining installation instructions.

• Have working knowledge of electrical fundamentals, Wiring Code and Sierra Leone safety regulations and standards.

• Have experience working at heights and in various weather conditions.

• Are in physical condition with the ability to lift and carry heavy equipment.

• Excellent written, verbal communication skills in English and Krio.
