Women for Green Jobs ●LIVE

The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) recently announced a new collaboration with Shortlist and Value for Women to create 750 green jobs for women across six countries in Sub-Saharan Africa: Nigeria, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Malawi. This project is placing many women in high-volume roles, while also prioritizing women in high-value, visible, and nontraditional roles.
Beyond the women placed directly into green jobs, the program will also lay the foundation for the continued hiring of women by preparing a vast talent pool, developing a hiring database for employers, and providing technical assistance to energy companies on equitable employment practices.
Accelerating the Rise of Cloudwork in Kenya ●LIVE
Shortlist has launched a three-year program to place 5,000 youth into entry-level jobs in the ICT and “data labeling” sector – with at least 60% of these youth expected to be female. The program "Accelerating the Rise of the Cloud Work Industry in Kenya" is being launched in partnership with CloudFactory and Africa AI and with funding from the Dutch Government’s Challenge Fund for Youth Employment (CFYE).
This program will focus in particular on the rise of “data labeling” as a driver of job creation for Kenyan youth. Estimates suggest that the data labeling industry will grow at an annual rate of nearly 25% over the next five years, representing an opportunity for tens of thousands of Kenyans to enter into formal sector employment.
The Off-Grid Talent Initiative (OGTI)
Locations: 10 countries across Africa.
Shortlist was selected by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Carbon Trust to lead its upcoming program, the Off-Grid Talent Initiative. Shortlist developed an entry-level talent pipeline to place over 350 young professionals with employment opportunities in the energy access sector across Sub-Saharan Africa over two years.
We used our technology platform and competency-based assessment model to deliver an objective recruitment process that promoted diversity, with a special focus on attracting female jobseekers into the energy sector.
At the conclusion of the program, Shortlist exceeded hiring targets by making over 400 placements, 52% of which went to women.
Child Rights Fellowship (CRF)
The Fellowship, a strategic collaboration between The Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) & Ashoka University, provides a platform to 5-10 young professionals to work on child rights reforms, policy implementation and government stakeholder engagement. The fellows get an opportunity to innovate interventions, leverage data to strengthen child welfare initiatives and drive sustainable impact.
Shortlist has supported DCPCR and Ashoka since the fellowship was launched in 2021, reviewing and screening over 10,000 profiles to identify the top 1% of applicants. In the first year of the fellowship itself, the fellows made a landmark achievement in reforming the lives of children in Delhi NCT across three focus areas, Education, Health and Nutrition and Juvenile Justice.

An initiative of the Prime Minister Sanna Marin’s Government to increase work-based immigration of skilled labour, the Talent Boost Programme focuses on bringing international talent to sectors that have a high demand for human capital. This programme is set up with the goal that international talent will contribute to higher employment in Finland, foster quality, internationalisation and diversity in higher education institutions, drive the growth of companies and RDI activities, and promote foreign investment in Finland.
The focus of the Talent Boost Programme in India is to attract exceptional talent from technology companies with a focus on high-demand tech roles. Shortlist assisted over 20 Finnish tech and gaming companies in identifying and screening talent eligible for relocation to Finland.
Coca Cola Kwanza’s Graduate in Training (GIT) Program
Shortlist ran recruitment for Coca-Cola Kwanza’s Graduate in Training (GIT) Program. The one year program is an accelerated development program that gives those selected a taste of life at Coca-Cola Kwanza, excellent opportunities for career progression and to learn about leadership.
This program develops world class leaders through functional and cross functional rotation, challenging assignments, business projects, integrated training and development, and formal coaching and mentoring programs. Shortlist screened over 4,000 candidates and shared a shortlist of 80 candidates to Coca-Cola Kwanza for this highly competitive program.
Kenya Small Business Leaders Program
The Kenya Small Business Leaders matched subject matter experts with 15 technology-enabled small businesses through a paid virtual secondment over 3 months to help fuel growth and unlock potential.
CCBA’s Emerging Future Leaders Program
The CCBA Kenya Emerging Future Leaders Development Program is a two year program is an accelerated development program that provides those selected with excellent opportunities for career progression.
The program entails courses designed to enable the Emerging Future Leaders to learn the trade, broaden their business understanding and acquire foundation functional skills.
In 2020, Shortlist screened over 13,000 applicants and presented the top 125 candidates for CCBA to select for the program.
Business Finland India

The Andela Talent Marketplace
Locations: Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda.
The Andela Learning Community (ALC) is an initiative by Andela that offers online learning opportunities, guided mentorship, and skills-based projects to both early-stage technologists and experienced developers.
In partnership with Google, Facebook and Microsoft, ALC has already enrolled more than 60,000 learners across Africa.
Shortlist partnered to develop The Andela Talent Marketplace to connect employers in Kenya, Nigeria and Uganda with top ALC graduates and Andela Alumni who fit their exact specifications for entry-level developer and other technical roles.
LGT Impact Fellowship
As part of LGT Venture Philanthropy’s and LGT Lightstone’s strategic efforts to scale positive impact, the LGT Impact Fellowship was established in 2009 to provide additional know-how and capacity to its portfolio organizations. Each year a limited number of professionals are nominated to work full-time for one year with impactful organizations supported by LGT Venture Philanthropy and LGT Lightstone in Latin America, Africa, India and Europe.
Shortlist provided support to LGT for two years of fellowship recruitment, reviewing and screening over 4,400 business professionals globally to identify placements into LGT’s portfolio organizations.
The Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associates Programme (CMGGA)
The Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associates is a one-year experiential learning programme offered by Ashoka University and Government of Haryana. Adopting a field-and-forum approach, the Associates work in the districts for seven weeks and then gather at Ashoka University for a week-long cross-learning forum to discuss challenges, synthesize learnings, and ideate to work more efficiently.
Shortlist reviewed over 6,000 applicants and helped CMGGA select 25 young individuals placed across 22 districts of Haryana, for a year to bring about societal changes on ground while gaining considerable training and exposure.
Interns 4 Afrika
For six months, selected interns worked in a real company and on real projects either in sales, marketing or technology while collaborating and learning from their colleagues. Graduates also got the opportunity to become Microsoft certified.
Shortlist screened over 30,000 candidates from across the globe, and ultimately placed 250 interns with Microsoft partner organizations.
KPMG Graduate Recruitment
Locations: Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania.
From 2017-2019, Shortlist supported KPMG’s graduate recruitment efforts across East Africa. In total, Shortlist screened over 45,000 applicants to find the top 1% of all candidates for selection.
